The company was founded at the end of the 19th century in Bergamo, Italy, by Guido Zanetti, known for his expertise in cheese "ripening" technology. By 1940 he had established himself as the leading maturer for the region's Grana cheeses, distinguished by their firm and grainy structure. In 1946, the company started industrial production for the first time and 2 years later began exporting its products. After more than a century of history, today Zanetti is the world market leader in Grana Padano and Parmigiano Reggiano.
Sweet cheese with a salty tinge. Its texture varies depending on the ripening period, being creamy at the initial stage and acquiring a grainy texture with small holes in places between 5-12 months.
It is known as a baking cheese that also holds up extremely well in melting recipes (such as fondue, for example)
